.....The
original wooden buildings at Cross Street Market burned in
1951. If you stay on Light Street and look to your left on
Cross, you will see an entire block of storefronts that survived
the fire thanks to the efforts of the local fire brigade,
Engine Company Number 2.
An
eclectic mix of shops, restaurants, cafes and, yes, even a
green grocer (be sure to ask Mr. Lanasa to give you access
to his "back-room" stock) now offer strollers some
interesting diversions and temptations.
